When you’re hungry and don’t feel like bundling up to brave the cold this winter, or if you suddenly hear your stomach growling relentlessly in the middle of an intense cram session, pizza delivery isn’t your only quick and easy option anymore. Straight2YourDoor.com offers Ann Arbor residents delivery from a variety of local eateries. Through their website, you can order food to be delivered straight to your door from Max and Erma’s, Panchero’s, Quiznos, Raja Rani, Sava’s Café, Teriyaki Time and many others.

Last year, four U of M Business School students started the delivery service MDelivers. Over the summer, they merged their business with Straight 2 Your Door, a national company, which serves not only the Ann Arbor community, but four other college markets as well in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Texas.

B-school Senior and MDelivers co-founder Evan Demchick holds the position of CEO/General Manager of S2YD-Ann Arbor. Demchick says that Straight 2 Your Door is always looking to build new partnerships with local restaurants and advises customers to suggest their favorite restaurants to S2YD. Currently, S2YD offers the full menus of 21 restaurants, including American, Mexican, Indian, and Asian options.
They even deliver items from the Campus Corner Party Store — perfect for those late-night Ben and Jerry’s cravings (the party store is open until 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends!).

To place your order on Straight2YourDoor.com, you need to create a free account on the website. The restaurants that are open at the time of your order will be highlighted. If the restaurant you want to order from is closed, you can place an advanced order. After browsing the menus and choosing your items, you can proceed to check out and decide to pay by cash or credit card. Upon finishing your order, the website provides a “special requests” option — to substitute one side dish for another, for example. When I used Straight 2 Your Door to receive take-out from Max and Erma’s, I ordered the Caribbean Chicken and substituted a side of rice for french fries.

After checking out, you receive a receipt including the estimated time for your delivery. My delivery arrived almost a half an hour before the estimated time, but according to Demchick, most orders are placed from around 6-9 p.m. and weekends are busier than weekdays.

Straight 2 Your Door delivers to the entire U of M campus, including North and the majority of the Ann Arbor community. With a wide variety of restaurant options, S2YD makes it possible to try an assortment of Ann Arbor cuisine with ease and convenience.

the service is only possible by passing on the costs of the business to its drivers. The drivers do not receive an hourly wage and the delivery fee is split with the company. average delivery time is near an hour as the dispatch system is out soucred many states away where the order router is unaware of things like home football games or traffic problems.
If success is measured by passing on costs the s2yd delivery system is a hit.
